Jay James is a British Recording Artist & Songwriter who received widespread International attention & interest through his involvement on The X Factor in 2014.
A firm favourite from his first audition, Jay captured the imagination of the Country with his distinctive voice, stunning performances and unique background.
As Simon Cowell's self confessed 'predicted winner', Cowell described Jay as 'Incredible' & a 'Genius' with great renditions of 'Say Something' (Great Big World), 'Changing' (Sigma) and '500 Miles' (Proclaimers) which became the first ever X Factor Live Performance to hit the iTunes Charts at Number 7.
Jay is a former Royal Navy Warfare Specialist turned Physical Trainer from Saundersfoot, Pembrokeshire in South West Wales. After joining the Military from the tender age of 16, Jay, as his reports show was often described as 'exceptional' and from being tipped for early promotions at every stage of his career, it is noted that the Model Military man and leader was also nominated for an award for his "outstanding contribution towards the Royal Navy Physical Training branch".
Jay respectfully served his Country for nearly 10 years before becoming injured playing representative Rugby and decided whilst on sick leave to learn a guitar purchased as a light hearted joke months before. This was the life changing moment that was to uncover, a love of music and a completely unpredicted new exciting journey for the Welsh man.
After a matter years and the successful independent release of a self penned track, Jay was scouted by DECCA Records, Universal, became the first ever Musician to become a Royal Navy Role Model and awarded a "Career break" to pursue his musical ambitions & promise. Since that point Jay has and continues to collaborate & work with/for some of the biggest artists, producers & songwriters in the World, names include John Legend, Justin Timberlake, Nick Jonas, Beyonce & Booker T.
